Preferred Strategy

Representation ID: 27452

Received: 14/08/2019

Respondent: Mr Steven Carter

Representation Summary:

Llanfairfechan will become less of a community and more a dormitory village where residents work, shop, use services and recreate elsewhere, also increasing congestion and pollution. The problems associated with lack of GPs (appointments), dentists (none), almost non-existent police (crime and vandalism) will increase at least proportionately. Moving the schools will further damage the little retail presence in the village's centre, and sense of community.
Llanfairfechan is neglected with little/no investment to develop work, recreation (particularly for youth), tourism, community facilities.
Awareness of the Plan is very low.

Our response:

Not accepted: The planning system cannot restrict migration in to Llanfairfechan.
The RLDP strategy seeks to locate the majority of residential sites in the urban areas, which are in close proximity to existing employment sites and other facilities.
A new primary school has been agreed for Llanfairfechan due to the current schools not meeting 21st Century Schools Standards. Consultation with parents is part of this programme.
The residential sites will be required to contribute financially for planning obligations. This will be secured for spend in Llanfairfechan.
An additional event was held at Llanfairfechan due to the interest in the proposals. There will be another opportunity to comment on proposals at Deposit stage of the RLDP.
